Benefits of partnering with EL Education

An opportunity to launch EL Education’s new K-5 ELA curriculum and analyze its impact on teachers and students.

  • A multi-year, partially-subsidized, comprehensive package of implementation services and support, delivered school-wide and differentiated by audience.
  • Engaging, job-embedded professional development that enables teachers to experience the same best practices as students.
  • Greater school-wide capacity in high quality, Common Core-aligned instructional practices.

EL Education will provide partners our signature services developed over 20 years in schools and districts across the country. Used in 43 states, our 1st edition ELA curriculum (originally offered through a partnership with EngageNY.org) has received the highest rating by EdReports.org.

Our 2nd edition curriculum includes a comprehensive approach to literacy development (including supports for English Language Learners), incorporating our three dimensions of student achievement: the mastery of skills and knowledge, academic mindsets and character, and the ability to produce high-quality work.

Grades K-2 ELA curriculum

Our K-2 comprehensive literacy curriculum comprises a full year of instruction for three hours per day. Two hours of instruction provide integrated literacy that engages students in content-based lessons that build literacy skills as students learn about the world through the deep study of compelling topics. The third hour focuses on explicit skills instruction. The full curriculum honors primary learners’ need for song, movement, stories, and imagination.

The Reading Foundation Skills Block can also be used as stand-alone instruction.

Grades 3-5 ELA curriculum

Our 3–5 curriculum comprises a full year of instruction for two hours per day. The curriculum honors students’ growing capacity to read complex text, write at length and with depth, and explore pressing issues in the world around them. The one-hour module lesson is whole group instruction that builds literacy skills and habits of character as students study compelling topics through complex text analysis. The one-hour Additional Language Literacy (ALL) block supports the module lessons. These two hours of instruction are complementary, working together to accelerate the achievement of all students. In the ALL block, students learn through a combination of differentiated small groups and independent learning.

There is also an optional companion life science module to deepen content knowledge and further strengthen literacy skills.

Grades 3-5 Life Science Companion for Module 2

Students act as scientists with an emphasis on inquiry and understanding scientific concepts. (Addresses the three dimensions of NGSS.)

The 3-5 Life Science Companion for Module 2 can also be used as stand-alone 8 week life science instruction.
