Peer Coaching Seminar Structure

Similar to a socratic seminar, students in this structure engage in conversation around an issue or key idea provoked from reading anchor and supporting texts. During the seminar the students should take the lead role, and the teacher becomes more of an observer. This seminar was specifically modified to support ELLs; additional ELL supports are included in this structure. This structure can be used as a mid-point assessment, end of a module/expedition, used as a structure to engage students in academic discourse for repeated linguistic practice.
