In the EL Education model, all staff members are valued in the community of learners. School leaders embody the school’s values and exemplify the positive and professional character they want all staff to demonstrate. Leaders build staff cohesion by promoting effective collaboration, communication, and trust across the learning community. They build teachers’ capacity to lead and learn from one another.

School leaders think and act strategically and proactively, bringing problems and proposals to the table early and collaborating with faculty to improve the teaching and learning environment for all students in all classrooms. Administrative leaders supervise and evaluate staff and teachers fairly and provide descriptive feedback to support teachers’ growth and learning. Leaders foster an environment where all staff members focus on solutions free of blame and defensiveness. Faculty and staff feel safe, valued, and productive in a culture characterized by trust, competence, compassion, and joy in learning.
