Students worked with experts from the University of Rochester to learn how to use water-testing equipment and create experimental protocols to insure accuracy in their data sets. After studying the format of scientific journal articles, the students created a report in that structure, with an introduction, abstract, methods, results and discussion as well as citations and references.

The data in the report were illuminated geographically with Google Earth maps of experimental sites. The student report, with mixed results concerning stream health, was submitted to the City of Rochester.
