Student-Led Conferences Lead the Way

Washington Heights Expeditionary Learning School (WHEELS) has been receiving accolades about their use of student-led parent conferences. As NYC Chancellor Dennis Walcott noted in a recent address, student-led conferences allow "students to drive the conversation" and push "parents to get more involved."

In addition to being recognized as an Expeditionary Learning Mentor School, WHEELS has boasted 100% parent involvement in student-led conferences, which helps create a culture of engagement and high expectations for all students. In fact, WHEELS' student-led conferences are featured in the NYC-DOE’s Promising Practices library.
