'Maker's Laboratory' Opens at Ripley Central School
As a part of the school's implementation of the EL model, Ripley Central School in Ripley NY recently renovated their technology lab to open a new Maker's Lab. On their recent visit to the school, Ripley Central School Board of Education members had a chance to explore and learn more about the school's vision for the space as they were led on a tour of the lab by a group of eager students.
"The lab is part of the district's venture into Expeditionary Learning, an approach to education that strives to link real-world issues to project-based learning.
The district has begun to implement various aspects of Expeditionary Learning immediately after Ormsby, curriculum coordinator Erin Wheeler, instructional coordinator Michelle Helmer, and ELA head Karen Kondrick took a four day trip to the Expeditionary Learning National Conference in Boston and four more days in Albany at the New York Network Team Institute."
