Lake Bluff Students Partner with War Memorial Center
"What is the power of a story?"
This guiding question led Lake Bluff Elementary fifth-graders to partnership with Milwaukee's War Memorial Center, where veterans taught students about their experience as part of the school's first-ever Learning Expedition.
According to a write up in the War Memorial's newsletter, the students "visited the War Memorial Center for a tour of the memorials, an American Legion Post 18 flag ceremony, a presentation on WMC’s Zigman War Poster collection and hands-on learning about the Civil War and Desert Storm/Desert Shield through war trunks, on loan from Madison’s Wisconsin Veterans Museum."
Beyond presentations, students also engaged with individual veterans in small groups for interviews about their service.
