EL Education is thrilled to announce a $10 million gift from writer and philanthropist MacKenzie Scott. It is one of the largest gifts our organization has ever received.

“On behalf of the entire EL Education community, I want to thank MacKenzie Scott for her visionary support,” said Scott Hartl, President & CEO. “Her gift is a testament to our track record and a catalytic investment in our work to advance excellence and equity in education. It is invigorating to have our work recognized and supported in such a significant way.”

EL Education has allocated this historic gift to support our strategic plan, our most ambitious effort to innovate, evaluate and scale our solutions in our thirty-year history.

Helping to create equitable and excellent educational opportunities for all students is the heart of our work, from our groundbreaking curriculum to our transformational school model. We have blazed a path toward truly equitable public education, and we are now scaling for impact in districts and other school systems. Our work has never mattered more.

We are deeply grateful to MacKenzie Scott for making this meaningful gift to EL Education, both to accelerate our work at a critical time, and as a signal of trust and encouragement, to us and to others. As she writes:

"Equity can only be realized when all people involved have an opportunity to help shape it."
