Hamilton County School District Adopts EL Education’s Equitable Literacy Curriculum

EL Education is proud to announce a new partnership with the Hamilton County School District in Tennessee to deliver EL Education’s top-rated K-5 Language Arts Curriculum to more than 21,000 students and 1,200 teachers in the district.

“All students deserve access to a high-quality literacy curriculum that will prepare them for success in school, career, and life. We are proud to be part of this partnership with the Hamilton School District whose mission is centered on ensuring students are future-ready and prepared for success,” said Scott Hartl, President and CEO of EL Education.

“To ensure successful implementation of the curriculum and strong outcomes, EL Education is providing the Hamilton School District with a coordinated set of resources, support, and professional development. Open Up Resources, an organization that curates and publishes the highest-quality core instructional materials, will deliver EL Education’s curriculum through print materials,” said Dr. Bryan Johnson, superintendent of Hamilton County Schools.

The EL Education K-8 Language Arts curriculum is a comprehensive, standards-based core literacy program that engages teachers and students through compelling, real-world content and builds equitable and inclusive learning opportunities for all students. The curriculum has received top marks from independent reviews, including

The EL Education curriculum addresses an expanded definition of student achievement—building students’ academic knowledge and skills, habits of character, and high-quality student work. Studies by Mathematica Policy Research and other leading research organizations demonstrate that EL Education teachers significantly improve their craft and students achieve more, regardless of their background.
