As part of a learning expedition on veterans dealing with post-traumatic stress, seniors at Gilbert High School in South Carolina set out to raise $1,500 to buy and train service dogs for local vets.

Due to fervent community support, they ended up raising $3000, and the local animal shelter donated a dog to be trained.

The money will support a seven-month training program for two local veterans and dogs, through the group Service Dogs for Vets.
