EL Education Awarded Grant from Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation
EL Education is excited to announce that we have been awarded a $1,000,000 Professional Learning Partnerships grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to support improved literacy outcomes in Oakland, CA. This grant is part of the Gates Foundation’s Coherent Instructional Systems portfolio, which aims to improve supply, demand, and implementation supports for instructional materials and professional learning practices optimized for students who are Black, Latino, EL-designated, and/or affected by poverty while building the evidence base for this approach. EL Education’s Professional Learning Partnership is a collaboration between EL Education, Leading Educators, and Oakland Unified School District (OUSD), designed to help OUSD reach their literacy teaching and learning goals for students in grades 6-8. Through this two-year grant, EL Education and Leading Educators will partner with OUSD to develop and deliver professional learning in support of EL Education’s top-rated Language Arts Curriculum for grades 6-8, which has a track record of student impact results when paired with high quality professional learning.
