In a surprise ceremony held in October, Mona Iehl, teacher at EL Education Mentor and Credentialed School Polaris Charter Academy, was named Chicago Foundation for Education (CFE) Debby Jannotta and Shirley Jaffee Teacher of the Year Award.

In 2010, the Chicago Foundation for Education established the annual Teacher of the Year Award to commemorate twenty-five years of support to Chicago Public School teachers, and to honor two of CFE’s most dedicated Board members and volunteers. This distinction is annually bestowed upon a teacher who embodies the CFE mission and goes above and beyond expectations to enhance the classroom experience and provide effective instruction to students.
