The Expeditionary Learning 2014 National Conference will be the biggest and best yet!  Compared to previous years, an expanded roster of pre-conference day learning opportunities will be offered on Saturday, December 6th before the start of the 2014 National Conference that will be held in Boston from Sunday to Tuesday, December 7th to 9th.

Activities will include visits to nearby EL Mentor School Codman Academy and Conservatory Lab Charter School and two expedition "slices" that will enable teachers to "live the learning."  Focused Workshops will also be offered on:

"Grappling with Math;" "Curriculum Design for Deeper Learning," led by Cheryl Dobbertin and Suzanne Plaut; “Transforming Schools through Student-Engaged Assessment,” led by Cyndi Gueswel and Sharon Newman, which will focus on the practices in our new book Leaders of Their Own Learning; and “What Our Youngest Learners Yearn For: Nurturing the Caterpillar,” led by Steven Levy, Anna Rainville, and Romey Pittman.

Read more about pre-conference day offerings in the attached document.

Also, we are requesting proposals for 2014 National Conference master classes.  The Request for Master Class Proposals, which EL network members can access on EL Commons under “Educator Resources - Resource Library - National Conference Materials - General Information, Boston, MA,” explains the theme and provides questions to guide possible master class ideas. The application provides submission guidelines, and the rubric gives details on how proposals will be rated.  All proposals will be due by Friday, June 27, 2014, 5 p.m., Pacific Time. Applicants will be notified of their proposal's status in early August.
