Located in Asheville, North Carolina, Evergreen Community Charter School is a tuition-free, public school serving approximately 450 students in grades K-8. We follow the EL Education model, a research-substantiated model for school reform with roots in the adventure and leadership organization, Outward Bound. Our program embraces differentiated instruction, curriculum integration, focused literacy and math, challenging performance assessment, environmental education and character education.

Teach seventh and eighth grade mathematics and Math I classes using the EL Education model, which emphasizes integrated, differentiated instruction, experiential learning, collaborative planning and teaching, student responsibility, environmental education, and community involvement. Responsible for teaching the Common Core State Standards for math to two seventh grade and two eighth grade classes of 26 students each. Practice formative and summative assessment, provide critical feedback and guidance, establish rapport with students and parents, and work collaboratively with the middle school team. Professional teachers with passion, flexibility, high expectations, consistent classroom management, and a sense of adventure are encouraged to apply.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and North Carolina teacher licensure (or eligibility for licensure) in middle grades math.
Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated expertise in the teaching of middle grade students, with additional skills/interests in one of the following areas: differentiated instruction, environmental literacy, character education, social justice and/or service learning.
