ABOUT THE POSITION
The Production Editor will be responsible for editorial and production tasks and will work closely with the the Associate Director of Production and Content Strategy, the Senior Production Editor, and external consultants to support the Product Team’s production of high-quality curriculum products. This is a remote position that requires the ability to work within east coast office hours.
Note: This position is grant-funded for 12–15 months, depending on the project assigned. Contract extension beyond that date is possible but not guaranteed.
Specific responsibilities include:
Preparing manuscript files for content management system (CMS) production, including styling content for digital and print outputs and editing metadata
Conducting product quality assurance reviews
Copyediting and proofreading curriculum materials
Assisting with the creation and testing of CMS prototypes
Supporting CMS training for EL Education staff and consultants
Assisting with other production work as needed
An ideal candidate will have the following demonstrated skills and competencies:
A minimum of 3 years of editorial and/or content production work experience
Excellent attention to detail
Exceptional proofreading and copyediting skills, including command of grammar, spelling, and punctuation
Experience using editorial style guides
Good communication, organization, problem-solving, and time management skills
Facility with technology, including Microsoft Word and Google Workspace, and an aptitude for learning new technological skills
Ability to maintain quality while working on multiple projects and meeting deadlines
Flexibility to respond to changing priorities
Ability to receive and deliver feedback in a constructive manner
A passion for EL Education’s mission
Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required for employment, absent an approved medical or religious accommodation.
Familiarity with the following technologies and programs is helpful, but not required:
Content management systems (RSuite a plus)
XML, XSLT, DITA, NIMAS
InDesign, Photoshop experience a plus
