The Product Manager reports to the Director of Product Management. In this role, the product manager will be contributing to and executing a product strategy that is aligned to customer needs, market needs, growth opportunities, and the strategy and mission of EL education.

The Product Manager synthesizes information and discerns priorities to drive product development based on research, data, and trends in education. The product manager role requires exceptional cross-functional collaboration, the ability to facilitate meetings and processes, and strong communication skills. Product managers will work closely with the content team, product marketing managers, project managers, sales, and the finance team.


Specific responsibilities include:

Drive the delivery of initiatives, large-scale projects, and products and product revisions from initial concept and planning through execution and release

Leverage research (academic, competition, customer feedback) and data (usage, efficacy studies, and so on) to collaborate with the Director of Product Management in defining the strategic vision, setting goals, measuring results, and supporting the delivery of high-quality products

Own the product vision, roadmap timeline, business goals, and lifecycle management for a product or product line, including corrections and update cycle

Clearly articulate the business case for new products, the extension of a product line, or a revision or enhancement of existing products

Manage overall financial and product performance, work on managing a profitable P&L, and develop a strategic business plan for an assigned product or product line

Lead cross-functional groups in concept development, product requirements, and decision-making on a product or product line or array of components

Partner with the content team to ensure regular coordinating of features and product design guidelines throughout the product development phase

Participate with product marketing in go-to-market strategy, support product launches, and monitor product performance

Work closely with product marketing in drafting internal communications, release notes, and product information for internal stakeholders, product partners, and customers

Build and pitch initiatives grounded in research for inclusion in the product roadmap. Present product roadmap pitches to vital stakeholders for input and agreement.

Work with product marketing to monitor the competitive environment and market changes.

Develop deep product knowledge, serving as an expert on a product line and working closely with teammates in product marketing, sales, and the partnership team


An ideal candidate will have the following demonstrated skills and competencies:

BA or BS in related discipline required

3+ years of experience in product management, product development, product strategy, or product delivery

Strong written and oral communication skills, whether in face to face meetings, conference calls, and/or online meetings

Ability to analyze financial models in support of sound product development decisions

Ability to analyze, synthesize, and summarize data and feedback from varied inputs

Persistence in leading a cross-functional team, taking products through the product lifecycle from planning to launch to sun-setting

Ability to think and act strategically while also demonstrating the hands-on tactics necessary to deliver high-quality product solutions

Experience in education, instructional pedagogy, or educational technology

Availability to travel: less than 10% of the time
