Part-time K-12 Instructional Coaching Position
Available

The Rocky Mountain School of Expeditionary Learning
(RMSEL) is looking for a part-time, 3 days/week (0.60),
Instructional Coach to join our staff. This Instructional Coach
will work on a team with another part-time Instructional
Coach and the Director of Curriculum and Instruction.

Background
RMSEL is a public, K-12 school of choice serving students
from five Denver-area school districts: Aurora, Cherry Creek,
Denver, Douglas County, and Littleton. The school, founded
in 1993, is a learning community designed around
multidisciplinary, integrated learning expeditions.
Expeditionary Learning places emphasis on high academic
achievement as well as on character development. We
believe that, given the right support and a caring and
compassionate learning environment, all students can and
want to learn. Our standards-based portfolio assessment
system makes explicit the criteria by which success can be
measured and documents the accomplishment of high
academic and character standards.

Responsibilities
* Work with both new and veteran teachers through datadriven
coaching cycles that involve setting specific targets
for students rooted in standards/curriculum * Connect
teacher coaching plans to the RMSEL Work Plan and the
design of weekly organized professional development *
Engage in long-term expedition planning sessions with
teachers ensuring alignment to standards, compelling
topics, high quality projects, and engaging fieldwork *
Engage in daily workshop/lesson planning sessions with
teachers, ensuring the plans are of high quality * Work
collaboratively with the Director of Curriculum and
Instruction and the co-instructional coach to plan and
facilitate professional development * Meet with teachers
and teams during common planning time to collectively
discuss issues focused on: curriculum, assessment,
examination of student work, classroom instructional
practices, management in the active classroom, EL
Education Core Practices, or other teaching and learning
issues * Research educational best practices and be the
bridge of this research to classroom teachers * Be a curator
of educational tools and resources for a dynamic range of
classroom teacher strategies and disciplines * Assist with
other duties as assigned.

Requirements
* Familiarity with the student-centered coaching model,
or a willingness to learn this model * Effective
communication and interpersonal skills with students,
parents, and colleagues * Knowledge of how to engage
the adult learner * Strong organizational skills *
Knowledge of Common Core State Standards and
Colorado Academic Standards * Demonstrated knowledge
of current, research-based instructional strategies and
assessment practices * Possess a Colorado Department of
Education teaching license * Preferred candidate will have
at least three years of classroom teaching experience and
familiarity with EL Education schools.
