The Manager, District Partnerships works with the District Partnerships Team, supporting the Managing Director, District Partnerships, team directors, associate directors, and coaches. This position reports to the Managing Director, District Partnerships. The position is designed to support the district partnership process, including development, launch and management/coordination. The Manager will work directly with both the District Partnership Team and with partner districts supporting delivery of services, logistical support, and coordination of teams that are on-site with partners. The Manager, District Partnerships will assemble high-level reports and data/information summaries about current and potential district partnerships in support of the partnership recruitment, development and on-going coordination phase. The Manager, District Partnerships will work to coordinate and communicate regarding a complex set of partnerships, including grant monitoring, on a growing team with tremendous attention to details and project management functions.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Planning, logistics and coordination management for medium and large district partnerships

  • Finalize a complex set of details on multiple professional development events and meeting
  • Work closely with Partnership Associate(s) to ensure that the systems created for professional development events and meetings are implemented across the district partnerships tea
  • Liason for district personnel in planning for delivery of services including materials delivery
  • Act as on site contact and/or prepare other EL staff or consultants to serve in this role for district and building administrators, event participants and EL staff
  • Anticipate, plan for and manage onsite temporary logistics support personnel and EL staff for multiple large events
  • Manage and assist in creation and communication of facilitator schedules for Summer Launches
  • Communicate with facilitators, EL staff and consultants, regarding event details for service delivery
  • In collaboration with EL Education’s Program Team set up scalable systems for:
    • Manage materials/supplies delivery and ordering
    • Tracking and coordination of hotel accommodations, meeting spaces and catering, as needed
    • Negotiate contracts with venues and vendors

Partnership Support, Management and Coordination

  • Coordinate and manage support for Goal 1 of our Strategic Plan: Deepening Impact with Districts
  • Coordinate and manage communication with internal colleagues (EL staff and consultants) and partners
  • Coordinate and support meetings including: agenda management, note-taking, maintaining documents, action steps and providing logistics support
  • Assemble high-level reports and data/information summaries about current district partnerships (i.e., Board reports, external presentations, district communications, etc.)
  • Manage and respond to complex requests with professionalism and depth of knowledge
  • Support communications with districts and other national partners related to EL’s district partnerships
  • Support the tracking and management of grant funding associated with the district partnership portfolio
  • Coordinate and support a set of partnership meetings including: agenda management, partnership plan monitoring, maintaining documents, tracking action steps and providing ongoing management support

Administrative Support and Coordination for Managing Director and Leadership Team

  • Prioritize meetings, assisting with meeting and calendar management, meeting and event preparation, and other project management and administrative functions as needed
  • Manage expense reporting and documentation
  • In collaboration with District Partnership team leaders support the functions of a large, complex team and set of partners
    • Support determining team priorities, and ensuring they are met, respected, and adjusted as necessary in service of partnership impact goals
    • Coordinate team meetings and regular communication structures
    • Support budget management
    • Support grant management and documentation

Other duties as assigned, including but not limited to:

  • Communicate with internal colleagues and external partners
  • Serve on ad hoc or standing operational task forces as partnership team representative
  • Handle logistics on-site for internal and external meetings
  • Other duties as assigned



  • Highly proficient in technology tools including the Google Apps, use of online calendar, MS Office Suite, Salesforce and web-based collaboration tools (e.g., Google Hangout, Adobe Connect)
  • Strong communication skills including internal and external audiences
  • Logistical event planning for participants from a variety of settings
  • Ability to handle fast-paced work flow
  • Familiarity with Salesforce preferred
  • Familiarity with project management tools
  • Strong ability to delegate tasks to others


  • Basic understanding of the education profession, workings of school districts, etc
  • Experience in event planning or logistics


  • A minimum of 5 years work experience
  • Bachelor’s degree -- ideally with background in communication, business administration or education
  • 2+ years of project management experience with increasing responsibility
  • A passion for EL Education’s mission and vision
  • Demonstrated experience supporting complex, deadline-intensive projects
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple work streams and stakeholders
  • A collaborative, entrepreneurial, and flexible professional approach
  • High detail-orientation
  • Ability to prioritize a number of concurrent tasks

  • Travel will be required up to 30%
