Located in Asheville, North Carolina, Evergreen Community Charter School is a tuition-free, public
school serving approximately 450 students in grades K-8. We follow the EL Education model, a
research-substantiated model for school reform with roots in the adventure and leadership

Position Descriptions

Teach a third grade class using the EL Education model, which emphasizes integrated, differentiated
instruction, experiential learning, collaborative planning and teaching, student responsibility,
environmental education, and community involvement. Responsible for teaching the Common Core
State Standards and NC Essential Standards for language arts, math, science, social studies, and
Evergreen’s character education curriculum to one third grade class, with support from an Associate
Teacher. Practice formative and summative assessment, provide critical feedback and guidance,
establish rapport with students and parents, and work collaboratively with the third grade team.
Professional teachers with passion, flexibility, high expectations, consistent classroom management,
and a sense of adventure are encouraged to apply.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and North Carolina teacher licensure (or eligibility for
licensure) in elementary education.
Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated expertise in the teaching of primary or elementary grade
students, experience administering NC Read to Achieve assessments, and additional skills/interests in
one of the following areas: gifted/talented education, Orton-Gillingham-based literacy instruction,
special education, environmental/outdoor education, and/or service learning.
