Hiring an Outreach/Student Recruitment Associate

The Elgin Math and Science Academy Charter School (EMSA, opens August, 2018 to all students residing in the U-46 attendance area in kindergarten through third gradefor our inaugural year.

EMSA is seeking a compelling, committed, and resourceful Outreach/Student Recruitment Associatethat will help to establish positive relationships with members of our learning community as we recruit more than 200 students for the 2018 – 2019 school year. This is a temporary, part-time position that will be active beginning in January, 2018 that will work to manage off-campus student recruitment initiatives and works closely with current and prospective students’ families.The successful candidate in this role will use EL Education’s Core Practices as the foundation of our message to ensure remarkable academic achievement, character development, and communityinvolvement for all students. As an Outreach/Recruitment Associate, you will:
• Serve as a clear and compelling advocate for EMSA for families and community members;
deepen knowledge of the Elgin Math and Science Academy model in order to share important
details about EMSA’s work
• Represent EMSA in recruiting efforts to preschools, churches, youth centers and other
organizations serving potential candidates for enrollment
• Research community events and recruitment opportunities to promote our school
• Work closely with the Principal to coordinate tours of the school, open houses, and other
activities for prospective students and their parents
• Support student recruitment on social media platforms by drafting content, proposing
strategies, and monitoring postings
• Providing administrative support for community events, including the preparation of written
materials and management of event logistics prior to the event and day-of
• Build, maintain, and utilize outreach lists; call/contact prospective families regularly
• Canvass the neighborhoods in proximity to EMSA’s campus to encourage families to consider
applying to EMSA by knocking on doors and contacting local community groups and businesses
• Post and distribute fliers in identified areas
• Execute initiatives in the student recruitment plan and enrollment process as assigned
• Prepare reports on enrollment progress for the Principal on a bi-weekly basis
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage in a highly collaborative
school environment
• Ability to develop relational trust with students, families, staff, and other community stakeholders
• Ability to tactfully and effectively deal with the public and staff at all levels in a personable,
professional, and relatable manner
• Fluent in Spanish and English
• Expertise in working with English Language Learners
• Expertise in working with low-income populations

Hiring Timeline and Application Process

We seek to hire an Outreach/Recruitment Associate for a January, 2018 start. Applications will

This part-time position will be active beginning in January and continuing through May with
hours varying weekly that will require some weekend and evening hours with a compensation
rate of $15 an hour. The ability to travel in the U-46 attendance areas is necessary.
