ABOUT THE POSITION

EL Education is seeking a mission-driven and entrepreneurial Director, Sales who is dedicated to increasing the reach of EL Education’s high-quality instructional materials and professional learning to serve the greatest number of students and teachers nationwide. The Director, Sales will lead the sales process, building on existing systems and structures to envision and execute on a new set of strategies for growth. With the Senior Director, Sales & Partnership Development, the Director, Sales will:

Implement activities to maximize sales potential for all products and/or services

Set and be responsible for achievement of revenue goals

Plan for continued expansion of the sales team aligned with growth targets

The Director, Sales will serve an integral role across multiple organizational functions, including Business Development, Partnership Development, Marketing, Operations, and Product.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Design and implement inbound and outbound sales strategies based on multiple inputs (organizational priorities, market analytics, historical data, etc.).
  • Nurture leads to ensure pipeline tracks toward revenue goals.
  • Conduct weekly pipeline review meetings for team leaders.
  • Liaise with Product Management to stay abreast of market trends and to provide real-time customer feedback to inform product development.
  • Liaise with Director, Engagement and external partner sales teams to ensure a seamless customer experience.
  • Assist with the development of product marketing plans.
  • Inform the development of new sales enablement materials.
  • Engage the Partnership Development Team at the key points in the sales process.
  • Identify and build relationships with key leaders and influencers in current and target markets (including districts, LEAs, and SEAs).
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings to share key sales-related updates and understand interdependencies.
  • Attend or present at conferences for lead generation.
  • Contribute to RFP and grant-writing processes.

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

An ideal candidate will have the following demonstrated skills and competencies:

  • Passion for EL Education’s mission and the belief that EL products and services will advance that mission
  • Deep commitment to racial and educational equity
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, in business or related field
  • 5+ years of sales experience with proven results, in education or related field
  • Ability to develop strong relationships with colleagues and customers
  • Strong communication, business acumen, and a competitive spirit
  • Experience using Salesforce
  • Approach to problem-solving that is inquiry-driven, innovative, and flexible
  • Demonstrated success working independently and efficiently in a fast-paced virtual environment
  • Experience leading and growing a sales team, preferred
  • Experience working with development / philanthropic organizations, preferred
  • Experience managing P&L and budget process, preferred
  • Awareness of education policy and research landscape, preferred
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required for employment, absent an approved medical or religious accommodation.

COMPENSATION

The compensation for this position is $100K - $110K and a wide variety of benefits, including paid-time-off, 403b match, maternity/paternity/adoption leave, medical/dental/vision insurance, and more.
