Job Summary:

The Personalized Learning Specialist is primarily responsible for addressing the academic impact of lost instructional time through the implementation of evidence-based interventions. Those interventions will respond to the academic, social, emotional, and mental health needs of all scholars and particularly those scholars disproportionately impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Reporting to the Associate Head of School for Curriculum and Instruction, the Personalized Learning Specialist will lead development and execution of Centennial’s personalized learning initiatives such as the Extended School Day, Extended School Year, and High Frequency Tutoring programs.

This is a full-time, federally-funded position (CARES Act) that will:

• Address learning loss resulting from the national pandemic and pre-existing opportunity gap by ensuring personalized learning is provided for Centennial Academy scholars both before, during, and beyond the school day including weekends and summers

• Design and implement support systems and learning networks for the purpose of increasing school capacity and usage of personalized and competency-based practices schoolwide

• Serve as the Director of Centennial’s Extended School Day, Extended School Year, and High Frequency Tutoring programs:

o Beyond the Bell, Saturday Academy, March Madness, WIN Block, and Summer Innovation Academy

• Create and manage all instructional materials associated with personalized learning programs that support scholars in mastering grade-level curriculum and/or unfinished learning

• Use data reports to plan and implement personalized learning strategies for teachers, scholars, and parents including creating detailed, time-bound, personalized learning plans to address identified scholar learning gaps with defined learning targets and progress goals

• Manage and track scholar iReady usage weekly

• Manage personalized learning program budgets and expenses

• Create instructional plans including resources and materials for teachers for personalized learning programs

o Instructional plans for daily WIN Block, Saturday Academy, and Summer Innovation Academy

• Monitor scholars’ growth and participation in department initiatives

• Present at relevant events to inform stakeholders and promote Centennial’s vision as well as quality personalized learning practices

• Work collaboratively with members of the Instructional Leadership Team such as the RTI/SST Coordinator, EIP Lead, and Gifted Education Coordinator in areas of personalized learning

• Provide high-quality interactions and clear and consistent communications with all stakeholders

• Assist in the identification of the foundational areas of weakness for assigned scholars

• Observes implementation and communicates with Academic Coaches if additional coaching and support is needed for teachers and others who are implementing the interventions


Essential Duties:

• Serve as the Director for Centennial’s Extended School Day, Extended School Year, and High Frequency Tutoring programs:

o Beyond the Bell (full year program)

o Saturday Academy (9 Saturdays a year)

o March Madness (March programming)

o WIN Block (full year program)

o Summer Innovation Academy (3 week summer program)

• Plan and implement core program components

o Plan and lead staff orientation and training activities

o Organize supplies and prepare items such as student supplies, inventory lists, etc.

o Plan parent orientations and workshops collaboratively with Parent Liaison

o Observe practices of teachers and provide feedback to Academic Coaches

o Assist in collecting, tracking, and analyzing student data

o Perform daily administrative tasks

• Responsible for maintaining updated tracking system for personalized learning programs such as iReady

o Track scholar participation and goals on weekly implementation of iReady

o Coordinate celebratory activities for scholars

o Provides guidance and support for the effective use of instructional tools

o Provides observations and works collaboratively with Academic Coaches to facilitate the coaching of teachers and others implementing strategies with fidelity

o Collaborate with the Director of Data and Analytics on data collection for personalized learning initiatives

• Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator


• Bachelor's Degree required; Master's degree preferred

• Valid GA Teaching Certificate

• 3 years of successful, verifiable experience improving student academic achievement or behavioral skills by providing instruction and interventions in a K-8 school setting

• Experience in developing academic/behavior personalized learning

• Supervisory and Leadership skills

• Disaggregation and analysis of data skills

• Commitment to the vision, mission, and values of Centennial Academy
