Current conditions call for educators who are willing to explore an evidence-based meaning of equity and equitable outcomes for students driven by data as they start the journey of becoming an anti-racist educator. This institute is designed for educators to reflect on their mindset and instructional practices, realizing their power to reinforce racial inequities inadvertently. With the power to perpetuate racism comes the power to dismantle racial inequities intentionally. During this learning experience, participants will:
Interrogate your position as an aspiring anti-racist educator in a racialized world while acknowledging the harm of racial trauma in schools and communities.
Investigate the pillars of EL’s Anti-Racism and Education Equity Stance related to our Instructional Core and Three Dimensions of Student Achievement
Identify best practices of strategically creating an anti-racist agenda to address racial formations in and around the classroom community.
This experience will be contextualized for each region of the United States. As such, participants should attend the event offered for the region in which they live.
