Teachers tasked as team or committee leaders, department chairpersons, and initiative owners often move into these leadership roles with little or no professional development or support, and are given the additional responsibility of leading their adult peers without ample time to plan or grow their own skill sets in advance. This institute supports grade-level team leaders, content-specific team leaders, or other staff members who lead a team of their peers. These teacher leaders will learn specific skills and structures to productively lead meetings, strategically use protocols to structure conversations, deliberately build and sustain a strong adult culture, and increase their own emotional intelligence and self-awareness. This institute is designed for teacher leaders and those who support them to improve the impact and accountability of teams as well as a school’s overall approach to collaborative, student-centered adult work.
