Crew: Supporting Student Belonging, Purpose, and Agency
EL Education Virtual Institute
- Grade Level
K-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12
In EL Education schools, Crew is both a culture and a structure. In this one-day introductory institute, we will experience and discuss how the culture of Crew impels all members of a school community to work together as a team and support each other to succeed. We will consider the schoolwide structure of Crew, and how Crew lessons can be planned to support student belonging, purpose, and agency.
This introduction is appropriate for teachers and building leaders at schools that have not yet implemented Crew; new teachers at schools with an established Crew program; school leaders who are experienced with Crew but trying to figure out how to orient and train teachers to lead Crew; and teachers who have some experience with Crew but who don’t yet feel comfortable leading Crew.
