The Roaring Fork School District is seeking applications for a dynamic, knowledgeable, innovative Third Grade Teacher to ensure that every student develops the enduring knowledge, skills and character to thrive in a changing world.  This is a unique opportunity to join our team mid-year.  You’ll be joining a thriving third grade team and teaching a group of students in a well-established classroom.  This is an ongoing position with the opportunity to be considered for the 2017-18 school year.  

Glenwood Springs Elementary School (GSES) is a community-focused, rigorous, project-based elementary school in Glenwood Springs, Colorado that uses the EL Education model (www.eleducation.org). Our community is nestled in the heart of the Colorado Rockies. Outdoor living is a way of life here. Our school thrives on the fact that our students experience diversity in many different ways.  GSES serves a diverse and multilingual student population of 550 PreK- 5th grade students.  Classroom teachers at GSES work closely and collaboratively with their team to develop and implement the EL Education model in their classrooms and throughout the school.  GSES seeks a positive and proactive individual who can get their hands dirty, work with teams and embrace our “We are Crew, not Passengers” philosophy.

Required Qualifications:
  • Colorado Teaching License (K-6) or ability to obtain one
Desired Qualifications:
  • Elementary teaching experience
  • Strong understanding of early literacy development 
  • Experience with experiential education, project-based learning or other similar model
  • Experience teaching a diverse population of students including English-Language Learners
  • Experience in adventure, outdoor and/or environmental education settings.
  • Bilingual
