This institute introduces participants to a text-based framework for teaching evidence-based reading and writing, with a focus on the new standards for analyzing informational text and writing opinion (3-6) or argument (6-12). Participants will experience reading about a compelling topic and writing an evidence-based opinion/argument. They will leave the institute with a conceptual framework for the important connection between reading and writing as well as a plan for designing and implementing deeper reading and evidence-based writing instruction for students.
